TRAGIC LOSS. The Funniest Man in America has passed away today

Comedian James Gregory, affectionately known as “the Funniest Man in America,” passed away on May 9 due to heart complications. His family shared the news with heavy hearts, emphasizing the joy and laughter he brought to countless lives. Born in 1946 in Lithonia, Georgia, James started working in his family’s grocery store at just 11 years old. After a brief service in the Marines, he found his true calling in comedy at the age of 36, quickly building a loyal following across the southeastern United States.

During his remarkable 41-year career, James also entertained U.S. troops around the world, sharing his unique brand of humor wherever he went. In his final days, he was lovingly cared for by his nieces, Martha Anne, Mary Jane, and Candie. His memoir, A Bushel of Beans and a Peck of Tomatoes: The Life and Times of “The Funniest Man in America”, is scheduled to be released in November.
