Mother seeks answers after carjacking suspect fatally struck by police car

A carjacking suspect, Dion Lamar Taylor, 20, was fatally struck by a police car as he and two others fled the scene on Sunday afternoon. Taylor, from Baltimore, was one block away from his home when the incident occurred.

Taylor’s mother, Teisha Cook, shared her distress, saying she didn’t realize her son was under the police car while she searched for him.

Earlier that day, Taylor and two others had carjacked a pizza delivery driver in Woodlawn. After a brief chase, the suspects fled the car, and Taylor was hit by a police cruiser as he ran down Highgate Drive.

Police confirmed that the officer did not intentionally strike Taylor, and the investigation is ongoing. One suspect, Taron Kelly, 16, was arrested and charged with several crimes. A third suspect remains at large. The officer involved is on administrative leave.
