In 2001, firefighter Patrick Hardison suffered severe facial burns during a rescue. After enduring over 70 surgeries, he became the first man to receive a face transplant in 2015.

The donor, 26-year-old David Rodebaugh, tragically passed away in a bike accident. His mother, Nancy Millar, donated his face, allowing Patrick to regain a sense of normalcy.

The groundbreaking 26-hour surgery involved 100 professionals, giving Patrick a new face, scalp, ears, and eyelids, saving his vision and restoring his life.
