An 8-year-old boy who was hanged to a tree and burned receives justice because of his final words on his deathbed.

On June 28, 1998, eight-year-old Robbie Middleton was brutally attacked in Splendora, Texas, by 13-year-old Don Collins, who tied him to a tree, doused him in gasoline, and set him on fire. Despite suffering severe burns covering 99% of his body and enduring over 150 surgeries, Robbie remained optimistic. Tragically, ten years later, he developed cancer linked to his burns and died at 20. Before his death, Robbie testified against Collins, confirming he was the attacker. In 2015, Collins received a 40-year sentence, and Robbie’s family was awarded $150 billion in damages, the highest in U.S. history. Robbie Middleton Day is now observed annually on his birthday to honor his memory.
