Bullied lady ‘too ugly’ for selfies takes one daily for a year.

Bullying is one of the most shameful issues in society today, especially when it targets people based on appearance. Social media has amplified this cruelty, offering anonymity to those who spread hate. Melissa Blake, a writer with Freeman Sheldon syndrome, knows this pain firsthand. After writing a 2019 article for CNN, trolls attacked her appearance, calling her names like “blobfish” and “whale.”

Rather than succumbing to the abuse, Melissa responded with resilience. She posted a tweet featuring three selfies, declaring, “During the last round of trollgate, people said I should be banned from posting photos of myself because I’m too ugly. So, here are three selfies to celebrate!”

Her defiance gained widespread support. She took it further, posting a selfie every day for a year, addressing disability misconceptions. Her Instagram following grew from 7,500 to 100,000, proving her courage inspired thousands. Melissa’s bravery shines as a beacon against hate.
