Meteorologist Edgar McGregor, praised as a “hero,” saved lives by warning Los Angeles residents of impending wildfires. On January 7, he urged evacuation preparations via Facebook, a warning many followed.
After a December 30 windstorm, McGregor predicted devastating fires, comparing conditions to past disasters in Hawaii and Paradise, California. His warning of mass destruction proved tragically accurate as fires spread across the region.
McGregor continues to update residents, cautioning that areas like Hollywood and Santa Barbara remain at risk if strong winds return before rain. “This isn’t finished yet,” he warned, highlighting the ongoing danger.
The fires, starting with the Palisade Fire, have burned over 40,000 acres. California has deployed prisoner firefighters to assist as the state battles to control the destruction.
