Carrie Underwood’s unexpected snag at inauguration

When it was announced that Carrie Underwood would perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration, many were unhappy with the choice. However, the singer faced a challenge at the event when technical issues caused her background music to fail, forcing her to sing “America the Beautiful” a cappella. Undeterred, she delivered a flawless performance, hitting all the right notes.

Wearing a sleeveless white dress, Underwood’s powerful rendition resonated with the audience, many of whom joined in singing along. After her performance, she shook hands with former President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, receiving praise from both.

Despite her success, Underwood’s participation drew criticism, particularly from the LGBTQ+ community, who saw her 2017 song “Love Wins” as supportive of same-sex marriage. Her decision to perform at the inauguration was seen as contradictory to her earlier advocacy for unity and inclusivity.

On “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg defended Underwood’s right to choose where to perform, emphasizing that, like anyone else, she had the freedom to make such decisions. The performance sparked debate, with opinions divided over Underwood’s involvement in the event.
