Recent research suggests that all humans may trace their origins to a single pair of ancestors, aligning with the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Genetic studies show that both “Mitochondrial Eve” and “Y-chromosome Adam” lived around 200,000 years ago, supporting the idea of a common ancestry.
Dr. Joshua Swamidass proposes that this evidence could point to a couple, possibly Adam and Eve, as the ancestors of all humans.
While not claiming they were the only humans, he notes that evolutionary science doesn’t rule out their existence.
This discovery has sparked debates, bridging scientific and religious views on human origins. Some believe the Garden of Eden may correspond to ancient Mesopotamia, while others suggest the Kalahari Desert in Africa as humanity’s ancestral homeland. These discussions continue to merge ancient texts with modern science.
