The White House revealed that ICE is on track to arrest nearly one million illegal immigrants by the end of Trump’s term, as Republicans push for stronger border security and more funding. This goal still falls short of Trump’s ultimate deportation target.
ICE has changed its reporting, now focusing on high-profile arrests instead of daily updates. Tom Homan assured the public that ICE is making steady progress, with over 11,000 arrests since January 20.
Trump’s deportation goal is much more aggressive, aiming for 20 times the arrests currently planned. Enforcement efforts are increasing, helped by a decrease in new arrivals at the southern border.
However, challenges like capacity issues and leaked operations, such as the failed Aurora raid, persist. Homan suggested limiting media access to protect future operations, and the next few weeks will determine if these deportation targets are met.
