Daniel stared at me.

“Think about Noah.”

I held his gaze.
“That is why he will never grow up believing cruelty is the same thing as strength.”

Vanessa was arrested separately in connection with conspiracy and financial fraud.
As the officers escorted him from the room, Daniel looked back at me.
