When recirculation is activated, the system reuses the air already inside the car. This helps the air conditioner cool the cabin faster on hot days because it does not have to keep cooling warm air from outside.
The feature is also useful in heavy traffic, polluted areas, or places with strong odors because it reduces the amount of exhaust, dust, and pollen entering the vehicle. Its effectiveness depends partly on having a clean cabin air filter.
However, recirculation should not stay on constantly. In rainy or humid weather, it may trap moisture and cause the windows to fog. On longer drives, switching between recirculated and fresh air helps maintain comfort, visibility, and better air quality.
