One ordinary evening after work, my husband Julian and I stopped at a grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. While waiting in line, we noticed a young mother standing ahead of us with a crying baby in her arms. Her basket held only basic necessities—formula, diapers, bread, milk, and a few simple groceries. She looked exhausted as she carefully counted the money in her wallet, hoping it would be enough. When her card was declined, she did not argue or complain.
