Signs of an infestation include moths flying near cupboards, small larvae, brown cocoons, silky webbing, clumped food, or products with an unusual smell. Inspect every opened package to find the source.
Throw contaminated food into a sealed bag, empty the pantry, vacuum shelves and cracks, and wash everything with soapy water. Pheromone traps can catch adult moths and help show whether the infestation continues.
Prevent them from returning by storing dry foods in airtight containers, checking groceries before putting them away, and keeping cupboards clean. Pantry moths are not usually dangerous, but recurring or widespread infestations may require professional pest control.
