We had been living in our new house near the forest for barely a month when trouble arrived at our front door. One afternoon, an angry neighbor appeared without warning and immediately began complaining about our family. She blamed us for the noise from the moving trucks and then turned her attention to my two young sons, insulting them and calling them noisy “mice.” I refused to let anyone speak about my children that way and firmly told her to leave our property. Later that evening, another neighbor named Emily stopped by and explained that the street had always been exceptionally quiet and mostly free of children, which apparently made our arrival a major change for some residents. I hoped the confrontation would end there, but the following morning I walked outside and discovered the words “GET OUT!” spray-painted across the front of our house. When I confronted the woman, she showed no remorse. She laughed, released her dog toward my terrified sons, and warned that our family would not last long in the neighborhood. Instead of retaliating, I installed a security camera and decided that from that moment forward, I would document everything.
