The happiest moment of my life quickly became one of the most confusing when my wife Natalie and I discovered a cruel message spray-painted across my car after a doctor’s appointment. We had just heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time and were celebrating the future we were building together when we saw the words, “Hope She Was Worth It,” written across the vehicle like an accusation. I immediately told Natalie that I had never been unfaithful, but even a completely false accusation can create doubt when it appears without explanation. Instead of attacking me, Natalie remained surprisingly calm. She admitted she had no idea who could have done it, then called her mother to pick her up because she needed time to process everything. I stayed behind, hurt and confused, trying to remove the hateful message from the car and wondering who would deliberately try to destroy one of the happiest days of our lives.
