One afternoon, our delivery driver Andre stopped near the trash cans, then rushed back to the Ring camera holding a handwritten sign that said, “CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.” We hurried home and found medication bottles hidden beneath the garbage, including children’s cough medicine and a sleep aid, along with a pharmacy bag bearing Megan’s name.
We found our son unconscious in his crib and rushed him to the emergency room despite Megan insisting it was unnecessary. Tests showed he had been exposed to a sedating medication. Police later became involved, and Megan admitted she had been giving him small amounts to make him sleep whenever he resisted naps.
Andre explained that he had seen Megan carrying the bag to the trash and noticed a medicine bottle fall out. Knowing our Ring microphone was broken, he used the sign to warn us. Our son recovered, and a month later Andre returned with another delivery. This time we could hear him ask if the little boy was okay, and we were finally able to tell him, “He is. Because of you.”
