There’s a surprisingly common question after cleaning the floors: where should you dump the dirty mop water—into the toilet or the bathtub? Although both seem convenient, neither is ideal. The toilet may appear to be the obvious choice because it handles waste, but pouring a heavy bucket into the bowl can create a large splash zone, spreading tiny droplets containing dust, hair, grime, and cleaning residue onto the seat, rim, floor, and nearby surfaces.
