The Answer I Gave My Daughter at the Farmers Market Ended Years of Being Her Doormat

For thirty years, I had been the person my family expected to rescue whenever their plans fell apart. Melissa had called me dramatic, declared that I was dead to her, and even demanded that I sell farm equipment to help pay for her wedding. I had warned everyone repeatedly that the farmhouse was no longer mine, but nobody wanted to listen. They treated the truth like an inconvenience they could ignore until I eventually gave in and fixed everything for them.
