Why do women cross their legs when sitting?

Body language can sometimes influence the position as well. Crossing the legs may make someone feel more relaxed, modest, protected, or physically settled during a conversation.

Sitting this way for short periods is generally harmless, although staying in the same position too long can cause temporary numbness, tingling, stiffness, or pressure on the nerves and blood vessels.

Changing positions regularly, stretching, and avoiding prolonged sitting can help prevent discomfort. Leg crossing does not usually cause serious circulation problems by itself in healthy people.
