Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing near the bite before swelling begins. Keep the affected limb in a comfortable, neutral position and avoid walking unless absolutely necessary.
Do not cut the wound, suck out the venom, apply ice, use electric shocks, or place a tight tourniquet around the limb. These methods can cause more damage and do not reliably remove venom.
Try to remember the snake’s color and markings from a safe distance, but never attempt to catch or kill it. The most important treatment is rapid professional medical care and antivenom when doctors determine it is needed.
