When I questioned them, my daughter explained that the haircut had been her own decision. She had learned about children who lose their hair because of illness and wanted to donate hers to help make wigs for them.
My mother-in-law had simply helped her find a salon that could properly cut and prepare the hair for donation. Hearing the real reason completely changed how I felt about what had happened.
Instead of being angry, I became emotional and proud of my daughter’s kindness. What first looked like an impulsive haircut turned out to be a thoughtful act meant to help another child feel more confident during a difficult time.
