Richard and his wife, Marita, are raising five children. Although Marita admits she was initially intimidated by his appearance, she says that after getting to know him, she discovered he was kind, loving, and completely devoted to his family.
His children also defend him, saying he may look scary to some people, but he is a good dad. Richard says he attends school events, participates in the PTA, and stays actively involved in his children’s lives.
Despite the criticism, Richard says tattoos do not determine what kind of parent someone is. His family is happy, and his story has become a reminder that appearance alone should never be used to judge a person’s character.
