Salt naturally attracts moisture, so it may help reduce dampness and make the interior feel a little drier. In some cases, this can also help with musty smells caused by humidity.
The effect is limited, though. A small amount of salt will not solve major moisture problems, leaks, or heavy window fogging, and it should not replace proper ventilation or repairs.
If you try this trick, keep the salt in a stable container where it cannot spill. For persistent dampness, check the car for water leaks and use proper ventilation or a dedicated moisture absorber.
