The strange shapes and small fragments around them made the discovery even more unsettling. I started wondering whether an insect had entered the room during the night or whether something was hiding nearby.
Instead of throwing the slippers away, I looked more closely and compared the objects with pictures online. After some searching, I discovered they were not eggs or anything alive.
They were simply flax seeds that had probably stuck to my clothes, socks, or shoes before falling onto the slippers. What seemed frightening at first turned out to have a completely harmless explanation.
