Investigators soon discover Richard had secretly stolen millions from Kane Enterprises through fake companies. Victoria had actually been investigating Richard, but he threatened her family and forced her to stay silent, making Daniel mistakenly believe she had betrayed him.
After escaping custody, Richard threatens Daniel again. Daniel tracks him to an abandoned warehouse, where Richard finally admits poisoning him, manipulating Victoria, and trying to take control of Daniel’s empire. Police arrive and arrest him.
Daniel and Victoria eventually begin rebuilding their damaged relationship, while Lily, the young girl who helped save Daniel, is honored as a hero. Daniel later creates a foundation in her name, and the experience teaches him that the person he suspected most had actually been trying to protect him.
