Mulberries are more than just attractive fruits. They contain fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and various beneficial plant compounds. Fresh mulberries are soft, juicy, and naturally sweet, making them easy to enjoy on their own or add to yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, and fruit salads.

Their fiber content supports normal digestion, while vitamin C contributes to immune function and healthy skin. Fresh and dried mulberries are different nutritionally, however, because removing water during drying concentrates both their natural sugars and calories. This means portions of dried mulberries are generally smaller than portions of the fresh fruit.

Although mulberries and blackberries may look similar, mulberries usually grow on trees, tend to be more elongated, and often retain small stems. Blackberries, by comparison, typically grow on thorny bushes. Despite exaggerated health claims sometimes found online, mulberries are not a miracle cure—they are simply a nutritious and flavorful fruit that can be part of a balanced diet.
