One recording showed Brielle placing Lucia’s favorite stuffed rabbit on a shelf the little girl couldn’t reach, leaving Adaeze to retrieve it and comfort her. I finally understood why my daughters had become so withdrawn—they had learned that remaining silent felt safer. When the day arrived that I was supposedly returning from Vancouver, I confronted Brielle with the recordings. My attorney documented the evidence, the engagement was immediately canceled, and Brielle was told to leave the house.
I apologized to Adaeze for doubting her and failing to recognize that she had actually been protecting my children.
