Eckhart became widely known in 2020 after filing a lawsuit against former Fox News anchor Ed Henry, accusing him of rape and sexual misconduct. Henry denied the allegations. Fox News fired him that year after a sexual misconduct investigation. The legal case continued for several years, with Eckhart’s claims against Fox News dismissed in 2025 and a settlement reached with Henry during the same year.

In the years after the lawsuit, Eckhart focused much of her work on supporting survivors and creating conversations around healing. She founded The Reinvented Project, which used animal-assisted approaches to help trauma survivors, and hosted the REINVENTED podcast, where guests discussed difficult experiences, recovery, resilience, and rebuilding their lives. These projects became an important part of how she chose to move forward beyond the public attention surrounding her legal case.

Her death left family members, friends, former colleagues, and people who followed her story mourning a life that ended at a young age. Her legacy is tied not only to the legal battle that first brought her widespread attention, but also to the work she later did to support others and give people a space to talk about painful experiences. Her story also serves as a reminder that private struggles are not always visible to those on the outside.
