Feeling uneasy, I checked the door and windows for signs of forced entry. Everything was still locked, but the damaged foil seemed suspicious. I decided to review the footage from my outdoor security camera to find out what had happened.
Shortly after 3 a.m., the camera had recorded a hooded figure approaching my front door. The stranger briefly touched the handle before stepping away and disappearing toward the sidewalk. When I contacted a neighbor, I learned that someone had also been seen checking gates in the neighborhood.
The experience convinced me to improve my home security with better lighting, stronger locks, and a properly positioned camera. Although aluminum foil helped reveal that someone had touched the handle, it was not a reliable security system. The incident reminded me that awareness and proper precautions are far more effective than relying on a simple household trick.
