I Called Police About Someone Outside My Window, but Someone Had Called First

Police arrived and searched every room, but found no intruder or signs of forced entry. However, beneath my bedroom window, officers discovered small footprints in the damp ground leading toward the sidewalk. They couldn’t determine who had left them or explain the mysterious earlier phone call.

Unable to sleep, I called my daughter Emma, who lived three states away. After hearing my story, she admitted having a strange dream that same night. She had dreamed of standing outside my bedroom window, desperately feeling that something was wrong and that she needed to warn me. Even more unsettling, she had awakened shortly before three in the morning.

The police never identified the person who left the footprints, and nobody came forward about the earlier call. I tried convincing myself it was a prank, caller-ID manipulation, or an extraordinary coincidence. But one question still haunts me: who called for help fifteen minutes before I even realized I was in danger, and why did my daughter dream about that exact window at almost the same time?
