The Day I Got Absolutely Nothing Done: A Tale of Distraction

Ever have a day where you’re busy but accomplish nothing? That was mine.

I planned to wash the car, but the mail led to sorting, which led to taking out the trash, then paying bills. Grabbing my checkbook, I noticed I was out of checks. In the study, I found checks—and a Coke to refrigerate.

In the kitchen, I saw wilting flowers and spilled water while watering them. I found my glasses and the remote but kept getting sidetracked.

By sunset, the car was dirty, the bills unpaid, and everything unfinished. A day lost to distractions taught me to focus on one thing at a time.
