Mia Knight edged out fellow Team Queen Latifah singer Sophia Liano after the pair’s Battle Round performance of “Never Enough,” earning a place in the next stage of The Voice. Their duet from The Greatest Showman drew praise from the coaches, while Knight’s vocal run and stage presence helped make the difference for her coach, Queen Latifah.

The performance built on strong impressions made during rehearsals, where Latifah said the singers gave her chills. Onstage, both contestants displayed their vocal ability, and the coaches described the battle as exceptionally close. Patti LaBelle, who advised the team, had previously compared 16-year-old Knight with Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion.
Riley Green was among those struck by the duet. He praised Liano’s tone and Knight’s range, summing up his response with the remark, “I didn’t know people sang like that in real life.” Adam Levine also praised both performers, noting Knight’s maturity and control despite her age, while complimenting Liano’s technical skill and distinctive tone.

Kelly Clarkson’s reaction was especially visible: she jumped out of her chair during the performance. She later pointed to a run from Knight as a moment that shifted her impression of the closely matched singers. Latifah, too, joked that a powerful note had cracked a stone in her ring, and told the pair that their performance had left the room better for having heard it.
When it came time to choose who would advance, Latifah said Knight’s growth during preparation and her confident command of the microphone stood out. She felt the teenager performed as if she owned both the song and the stage, showing a clear sense of herself as a vocalist. Latifah also connected with Knight’s age: her own first record came out when she was 17.
Latifah acknowledged Liano’s strengths but selected Knight to continue in the competition. The decision followed a duet that had earned admiration across the panel and left the coach weighing two strong performances. For Knight, the Battle victory marked a significant step forward at 16; for Liano, it ended this head-to-head contest after a performance that was also praised by the coaches.
