My Husband’s Ex Wanted to Make Me Homeless and Poor, But Karma Got Her

Sofia, 35, shared her story following the sudden death of her husband, Alex, five months ago. “I was broken when this happened, and I’m still mourning my loss,” she expressed. Alex, 45, had two sons from a previous marriage to Natalie, who Sofia felt treated their father like an ATM, but she chose not to interfere with his parenting.

After Alex’s death, Natalie and the boys took many of his belongings and sent Sofia the funeral bill, which she paid. Despite having spent her own money on renovations for their home, Sofia was told by Natalie to “take my things and leave” as they planned to sell the house. When Sofia requested a refund for the renovations, they all refused.

Sofia eventually moved out and bought an apartment with her savings. However, Natalie and the sons later discovered they couldn’t sell the house because Alex had put Sofia’s name on the title. They asked her to split the sale, but Sofia firmly declined, stating, “I didn’t hesitate and confidently said no, just like they did when I asked for a refund.”

Now that she owns the house, Sofia feels conflicted. While she stood her ground against Alex’s sons, she admits, “Something in my heart makes me feel unhappy about my decision,” leaving her with doubts about her actions. “What should I do?”
